Review: You Were Mine - Abbi Glines

You Were Mine (Rosemary Beach, #9)You Were Mine by Abbi Glines
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow, this book was a lot more emotional than I had expected. I did not have any prior knowledge of either character, being completely new to the series. Perhaps my feelings would have been different if I had started the series at the beginning and had read about these characters before reading their book, but I doubt it.

Bethy has not led an easy life. At 16 she met the love of her life. At 16 she watched him walk away. She had to deal with a lot by herself so I don't blame her for how she led her life until Jace came into her life. She was doing the best she could to cope. Jace changed her life and she found herself falling in love again. After losing Jace she felt she had lost a part of herself and she blamed herself. Tripp has loved Bethy since she was 16 but because of forces beyond his control, he had to walk away from her always intending to come back. Unfortunately when he did, it was too late and she had moved on... with his cousin. The loss of Jace did something to both of them. Tripp was determined though to love and watch over Bethy from afar even if she never forgave him for leaving her so many years ago.

Tripp is honestly what did it for me in this book. That a man would love a woman so much that he would watch over her and protect her even if it means watching her move on with someone else is beyond romantic. He's the kind of characters romance novels revolve around. Which is why I waited with baited breath for these two characters to work through their problems and their tragic shared past and create their own happily ever after.

Great story! This is definitely one I will read repeatedly in the future.
